SIP is a Monday–Friday summer internship program. For students who prefer not to commute daily or who want a more immersive college experience, SIP offers optional dormitory housing and meal plans on the UCSC campus at Kresge College during all seven (7) weeks of the in-person program.
Housing Details
Interns will stay in UCSC dorms managed by UCSC Conference Services.
- Location: Kresge College, UCSC campus
- Room assignment: Interns are grouped by gender on separate dormitory floors
- UCSC undergraduate Residential Assistants (RAs) live on-site and provide daily support
- Housing schedule:
- Check-in: Monday mornings
- Check-out: Friday after lunch
- Meals included: Monday lunch through Friday lunch
- Interns are expected to return home on weekends unless approved for full-week housing
Note: Spaces are limited. Be sure to complete your housing selection through the Optional Services Form by May 30, 2025.
Full-Week Housing
Students from outside the Bay Area or with special circumstances may request full-week housing, which includes:
- Sunday–Sunday housing
- Meals from Sunday dinner to the following Sunday lunch
- Weekend supervision, activities, and safety protocols managed by RAs
Meals & Dining
All interns staying in campus housing receive weekday meals in UCSC dining halls.
Full-week housing includes weekend dining as well.
- Vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly options are available
- Meals begin with lunch on the first day of housing and end with lunch on the last day of each week
Parking & Transportation
- UCSC operates a free campus shuttle system to help students navigate between dorms, labs, and dining halls.
- SIP Shuttle Service is also available for commuting students from the Bay Area.
