The Colors of the Most Massive Galaxies in the Universe

A study of the most massive galaxies in the nearby universe from looking at their optical colors. This project will utilize images from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the world’s most extensive data set of galaxies at low redshift, to trace the color profiles of nearby elliptical galaxies out to an unprecedented radius. A possible extension to this would be a comparison to the colors of similar galaxies that are tens of billions of light-years away using a cutting edge multi-wavelength data set.
