Information for SIP Presentation Day 2019

Saturday, August 17, 2019; 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Presentation Day marks the end of this year’s Science Internship Program (SIP). It is a full-day science conference with concurrent presentations in four rooms, representing fourteen different disciplines across the University of California Santa Cruz.
Interns, mentors, parents, and guests are invited to UCSC campus to hear from interns as they present their summer research. Please see below for more specific information about the event.

Presentation Day will run from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM on the UC Santa Cruz campus. The main gathering place for the event will be the M110 (Media Theater) in UCSC’s Theater Arts Center. Presentations will run concurrently in five classrooms in the Theater Arts Center: E100, C100, B100, J102, and B201.

Presentation Day Agenda

8:30 – 8:45 AM Welcome & Introduction (Theater Arts classrooms E100, C100, B100, J102, B201)
8:45 – 10:45 AM Session I: Intern Presentations (Theater Arts classrooms E100, C100, B100, J102, B201)
10:55 – 11:15 AM Mid Morning Break & Refreshments (plaza outside classrooms)
11:15 AM – 1:00 PM Session II: Intern Presentations (Theater Arts classrooms E100, C100, B100, J102, B201)
1:00 – 2:30 PM Lunch, Brief Remarks and Closing (Media Theater M110)

SIP recommends that the majority of interns and families plan to park in the Core West parking structure. It is free on the weekends. There will be a shuttle looping from the Core West parking structure to the Theater Arts (SIP Presentations) starting at 7:30am throughout the day.

SIP will provide a light breakfast, mid-morning refreshments, and lunch. During lunch, we will have a few brief talks following which we will hand out completion certificates to interns and call the summer program to a close.

Please note that lunch will be a buffet; vegetarian/vegan options will be available.
