UC Santa Cruz Science Internship Program (SIP) participants earned 4 spots among the 2012 Intel Science Talent Search semifinalists as announced Wednesday, January 11. Three of these 4 students are from the Harker School, which had a record 11 Intel STS semifinalists this year.”The semifinalists received oversized $1,000 checks from Intel in a spirited school assembly filled with hoots, laughter and deafening applause. Each honoree also got an additional $1,000 for their San Jose school. The number of honorees was kept secret beforehand, so the crowd’s excitement and decibel-level mounted with each additional name called.”….as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.
